This was the first show of the Flaming Lips-Beck tour. In addition, it was the debut of Kliph Scurlock drumming on stage with the Lips. It was originally a "secret show" open only to Pomona College students but was later opened up to the general public. The Flaming Lips played their opening set and then joined Beck halfway through The Golden Age after his acoustic set, which would be the template for the tour. All Beck songs were tour debuts and Beck songs that hadn't been played in awhile were Lord Only Knows and Get Real Paid. This show featured the only Sissyneck performance on the first leg of the tour and debut band versions of Paper Tiger and Little One. Despite Beck's comments that he'd never played Get Real Paid or Paper Tiger before, he had.
