The SARS Benefit was organized in about a month, upon the suggestion of headliners The Rolling Stones, who wanted to help revive Toronto's economy after the SARS outbreaks earlier in the year. The event, hosted by Dan Aykroyd, was attended by over 450,000 people and portions were broadcast by CBC and MuchMoreMusic. The early afternoon portion of the show featured 9 bands (including the Lips) who each performed 15-20 minutes. The evening performances included Justin Timberlake, The Guess Who, Rush, AC/DC, and The Rolling Stones.
