Ego Tripping At The Gates Of Hell

Wayne's Notes from the Album:

"Ego Tripping At The Gates Of Hell - To derive one's happiness from only specific moments in time is to miss out on the cosmic accident that is all of life's moments..."

Wayne's quote from Staring At Sound:

"With 'Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell' - and that is such an awesome title for such a silly nothing of a song - my nephew Dennis borrowed the synthesizer and came up with that bubbling sound. I put it into my digital recorder, played one chord and an element of that bass line, and when Steven came by, I said, 'See if you can make this something we could sing over.' I went out for a bike ride, came back, and he had something perfect, a synthesizer/Motown crossover, and I just came up with some lyrics about longing and not seizing the moment."

I was waiting on a moment
But the moment never came
All the billion other moments
Were just slipping all away
I must have been tripping
Were just slipping all way
Just ego tripping

I was wanting you to love me
But your love it never came
All the other love around me
Was just wasting all away
I must have been tripping
Was just wasting all away
Just ego tripping
Was just wasting all away
Just ego tripping

I was waiting on a moment
But the moment never came
Just ego tripping
But the moment never came
Just ego tripping
But the moment never came
Ooo, just ego tripping
But the moment never came
Just ego tripping
But the moment never came
Ooo, just ego tripping
But the moment never came
But the moment never came
